Creative Task 1

In our first choreography lesson we started off with improvisation. We began this task improvising on the floor and slowly rising to a higher level whilst travelling from one side of the studio to another. This was challenging for me as I am not confident with improvising as I have not done much of this before therefore I am used being following choreographed pieces. After this task we wrote our names in the air with different body parts for each letter. To develop this we added dynamic such as impulse and impact. We repeated the small phrase a number of times to create a small motif which can later be developed in the creation of my solo. I liked this task as it was an easy way to create movement. After that we was given the task of creating movement from our phone numbers. For example, 0 meant roll and 1 meant shift. After we put the movement together we had to think of an adjective and make the movement resemble the adjective. My adjective was excited so I made my movement high in energy and sharp. The video of my phone number movement is above. I enjoyed this activity as it gave me freedom to create a movement phrase I feel confident in. During this choreography session I found that my weakness was repeating the same couple of movements when improvising. I will resolve this by watching my peers when improvising to get inspiration. My strength in this session was being able to change dynamic such as release and impulse in my movement.

  1. I really enjoyed the choreography you created for this task, as I felt you clearly showed your chosen adjective of excitement through the dynamic of your actions. And you demonstrated such fluidity when performing.

You have listed clear and relevant points within your blog answering most questions set based upon the creative task.

Maybe next time you could make a reference to your video and explain about how you linked all of your movements together also how your dynamics show the adjective of excitement.

overall I really liked your choreography created for this task.

    1. Thankyou for your comment. I will take this piece of advice in mind when I make my next blog.

  2. I really liked this piece of choreography, especially the range of dynamics as this created light and shade within your piece. The arm movements used also allowed the piece to flow and made it look fluid. In your blog, you said you chose the dynamics impulse and release, why did you choose these? And why was this your strength of the lesson?

    1. I chose the dynamics of impulse and release as I feel comfortable and confident when performing my movements with said dynamics. This was my strength of the lesson as I felt that the movement looked better when I added these dynamics to it.

  3. I really enjoyed the variety of levels and dynamics you used when performing your piece and this really caught my eye. You have a really nice flow to your movements, showing ripples through the body which shows that you included devices such as impact. In your blog you mentioned that you found this way of choreographing enjoyable as it was easy to do, however is there anything you found challenging about creating this piece of choreography and if so why?

You clearly stated your strengths and weaknesses of this weeks tasks and how you would overcome then in the future which is a really clear and precise way of saying this. However, I just wondered weather you had any thoughts on what went well in your choreography instead of your improvisation tasks and how these made you feel?

Overall this is a really strong piece of choreography, well done!

    1. When making this piece at first I found it challenging to create the shapes within the space with body parts other than the arms. However, throughout the task I overcame this by finding inspiration from my peers.
In my choreography I believe my use of dynamic was a strength as I believe the movement looked better when I added it. This made me feel proud of the piece of choreography I had made.

  4. I really liked your choreography and your sense of dynamics was clearly shown throughout the piece. As said above you mention how repeating the name phrase to create a final motif was any easy way of creating movement. Will you use this process when creating movement ideas for your solo?

    1. I will use this process when choreographing my solo as I found it an easy and efficient way to make movement as well as this process allowing me to be free to create movement which I feel confident with

  5. The strengths and weaknesses within your post were discussed confidently and included detail as to how you are going to develop your weaknesses.

Although you have made an adequate attempt to address each question within the task, I feel as though you could develop your answers regarding what you created within the lesson. There are areas of the post where you have not expanded on what you have created, try to go into detail about why you might incorporate certain movements and the purpose of the tasks.

Please use the post I uploaded on my blog if you need help uploading the videos. After uploading, it would be beneficial to include a sentence or two connecting the blogs content to the videos so the reader can clearly understand what they portray. Additionally show evidence of your second creative task that was completed within the lesson in order to show your development.

It would also be beneficial if you detailed how you felt during the creative tasks and when completing the movement. Question how each creative task made you feel, if you found anything difficult, and how this affected your movement. Consider how you would change the movement if you had to perform this task again.

Please ensure you reread your posts keeping spelling and grammar in mind before you publish them, also please keep in mind the word count for each task.

Overall, some very good aspects within the post, I look forward to reading the improvements.

    1. In this task we were told to make our names within the space around us. We could also move around the letters as if they were in front of us. For example, I rond de jambed my leg in the shape of an S. I made an E by performing a roll onto the floor to create the round shape and then kicking my leg out to show the tail of the E. I found this task quite easy as the movement came naturally to me when creating my name in the space. However I did find it hard creating movement with body parts other than the arms and legs. This made me feel discouraged however I overcame this by focussing on my upper body and the pathways which I could make with it. When watching the video back I felt proud of my piece as I felt the movement was interesting and spontaneous.

    2. The purpose of this task was to find a new way to create movement. I believe this task helped me find this and I will use this process in the future to create movement.
